The Colourway at Yonge + St. Clair

Explore the Colourway

 

Step into the rainbow. Colourway is only open until July 7, 2023. This all-original pedestrian walkway is constructed from 5000+ upcycled pool noodles and celebrates a month of joy, community and connection.

This colourful public landmark is one of Toronto’s most unique summer photo spots. FREE for all to visit. Find it at 1479 Yonge St., directly in front of the Loblaws (click to see Google Maps location).

Designed and built by Gensler and programmed by the Yonge + St. Clair BIA, this installation is created from 5000+ upcycled pool noodles diverted from reaching landfills.

Colourway will celebrate Pride Month with festivities in collaboration with Pride Toronto. We are proud to support our LGBTQ+ community with the vision of a more accepting, loving world inclusive of everyone.

Social Media Contest | 2 x $500 Prizes ūüď≤

1) Snap an original photo, selfie or group with the Colourway located at 1479 Yonge St. between June 1 – July 7 2023.
2) Share your photo on Instagram with hashtag #thecolourway, follow @yongestclair and tag @yongestclair.
3) On July 7, 2023 the post with the most likes will be eligible to win a $500 credit to 2 (two) Yonge + St. Clair businesses / services of the winner’s choice.
4) On July 7, 2023 a second winner of the $500 credit to 2 (two) Yonge + St. Clair businesses will also be determined by random draw among all eligible entries.

Golden Ticket Hunt | 4 x $100 Prizes ūüéüÔłŹ | Saturdays Only

1) Every Saturday throughout June 2023, the first 50 visitors to the Colourway will be eligible for a chance to win a golden ticket prize worth $100 in local store credit to a business or local service of their choice.
2) Snap an original photo, selfie or group pic with the Colourway located at 1479 Yonge St.
3) Share your photo on Instagram with hashtag #thecolourway, follow @yongestclair and tag @yongestclair. 
4) Complete this questionnaire: Complete the Online Questionnaire
5) Show your completed questionnaire in-store at the listed storefronts below to pick up 1 (one) mystery envelope. Make sure you are the visiting correct store on the correct date.
6) Limit 1 envelope per entrant each Saturday. There is only 1 (one) golden ticket per Saturday to be won among all participating storefronts. The winner will be announced publicly each week. Envelopes are available only while quantities last. No prior notice will be given publicly if no envelopes remain. See in-store for availability.

Additional Contest Details: Only 1 post per user account will be accepted as an entry to the above contests. Yonge + St. Clair BIA reserves the right to determine a winner to preserve the integrity, spirit and eligibility of contest submissions. By submitting a photo you agree to the repurposing of your photos for public marketing materials to promote the event and neighbourhood. Entrants under the age of 18 must submit written permission from their parents or legal guardian in the event they are declared a winner.

Canada Summer Jobs: Events and Marketing at Yonge + St. Clair

About 

The Yonge + St. Clair BIA was formed in 2018 and is currently Toronto’s newest BIA. The organization exists to drive community initiatives, plan streetscape and economic development improvements, and execute local programs and events for the over 450 businesses and over 14,000 employees in the district. 

Opportunity 

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Marketing and Events Assistant will be responsible for the successful execution of marketing initiatives, together with the planning, organization, and implementation of event programming. 

Working closely with the Director of Operations, you’ll also provide key support for events and cultural programming including the planning of art installations, summer activations, tactical events, partnerships, and more.You will support the execution of the digital marketing strategy through social media channels, blog posts, web updates, and newsletters. 

Responsibilities 

  • Supporting the management of our social media profiles (Instagram, Twitter and Facebook)
  • Updating the BIA website, business directory and blog articles (yongestclair.ca) ‚óŹ Maintaining and updating the membership database¬†
  • Distributing email newsletters using Mailchimp
  • Assisting with the design of print and digital collateral
  • Interfacing with the local business community for ongoing marketing efforts ‚óŹ Supporting the summer line up of special events, activations and promotions ‚óŹ Managing and owning special projects as assigned¬†
  • Attending and presenting at monthly meetings of the Marketing + Events Committee

Required Skills and Qualifications 

  • Post-secondary degree or working towards a degree in marketing, digital media, public relations, event planning or or other relevant training¬†
  • Strong computer skills; proficient in G-Suite apps by Google Cloud, Microsoft, Mailchimp, and social media, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Experience with creating TikToks is an asset.¬†
  • Superior communication; written, oral and interpersonal skills with the ability to work and communicate effectively with various stakeholders at a professional level. ‚óŹ Organized self-starter, creative, with a results-oriented mindset.¬†
  • Willing to work on a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as required for the completion of key project coordination goals.¬†

We are looking for a passionate, creative Coordinator who can join our team in a startup-style
environment to help our emerging Business Improvement Area (BIA) thrive! You will become an
integral part of our organization to help us in our efforts to communicate with our members and
with the public, and to organize creative events and activations for the community. This is a
great opportunity for someone who’s passionate about marketing and looking to begin their
career.

About

organization exists to drive community initiatives, plan streetscape and economic development
improvements, and execute local programs and events for the over 450 businesses and over

Opportunity

event partnerships, and more. Digital marketing through social media channels, blog posts, web
updates, and newsletter creation will be an important focus, and your ability to generate content
and effectively schedule this media will be critical.

You’ll also be exposed to internal and external stakeholders, including presentations to the
Board of Directors and associated Committees, working with local stakeholder groups, liaising
with arts and cultural organizations, supporting sponsorship generation, and securing and
maintaining press relationships.

You’ll have flexibility with your hours but will be required to achieve a minimum standard of work
each week together with the operation of ongoing marketing and events activities. In addition,
some events may require evening or weekend hours which will be communicated well in
advance and planned accordingly.

Responsibilities
‚óŹ Producing a content calendar for all digital social media channels (Instagram, Facebook,
Twitter)
‚óŹ Developing content for regular blog articles on our website (yongestclair.ca)
‚óŹ Generating and monitoring results for paid advertising campaigns through social
channels and traditional media outlets
‚óŹ Utilizing Mailchimp for the creation of both member and public-facing newsletters on a
regular basis
‚óŹ Interfacing with the local business community for ongoing marketing efforts
‚óŹ Maintaining and updating the membership database and directory on our website
‚óŹ Designing for print and digital collateral
‚óŹ Creating presentations to the Board and outside stakeholders
‚óŹ Attending and taking minutes at all Board and Committee meetings

‚óŹ Working alongside consultants on marketing and events activities
‚óŹ Supporting the development of schedules, retaining consultants, maintaining budgets,
and executing on ongoing BIA-led events and partnerships
Required Skills and Qualifications
‚óŹ Post-secondary degree in communications, marketing, digital media, event planning or
or other relevant training
‚óŹ Familiarity with digital communication and design software including CRM (Mailchimp),
social media scheduling, Adobe Suite, Canva and WordPress
‚óŹ Proficiency in Google Workspace
‚óŹ Ability to work with budgets, source vendors and suppliers, and lead event teams
‚óŹ Strong communication and personal skills.
‚óŹ You know how to effectively build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
‚óŹ Extremely organized with a results-oriented mindset
